Want to know how to start?

The goal is to have fun and be creative.

Everyone approaches theirs a little differently.

This is how I usually make mine!:

  1. Rummage through your scrap artwork. Do you have something you can use and build from that is already on thick paper? Painted paper? Old watercolors? Collage scraps? If not, get a 9x12 piece of cardstock, posterboard, matboard or thick watercolor paper. But not too thick since you’ll need to cut it down.

  2. Revisit the theme(s). Get inspired. Play, layer, collage, make marks, scratch, weather surfaces, you decide.

  3. Once it has dried, Cut it down into 1” squares. I cut way more than I need so I have extras.

  4. Lay out your pieces. Evaluate them and start to see them for little works of art.

  5. Pick our your favorite 20+ and focus on those.

  6. Now what can you add? More paper, pen, stamps, sandpaper, marker, quotes?

  7. Start adding notes, marks, patterns on each one. Make them all unique or repeat as you would like.

  8. Take a sharpie, ink pad or paint pen to all the edges to make them feel complete.

  9. Add your name, date and maybe insta to the back of each one. Sometimes you can print a sticker sheet small for each and cut them to fit.

Tips!:

Use layers

Use a variety of mark-making

Use scraps

Add words?

Experiment - try something new

Be Imperfect.

Take risks!

You decide
